Spring is here so that means we are only a few short weeks away from Magpie Attack Season.
Brace yourselves Townsville, this stuff can get out of hand.
We should actually rename it Magpie/Plover Attack Season because in the North we seem to cop an influx of both breeds feeling the need to swoop at our good looking heads.
So whether it's a Magpie or Plover, there's a few rules to follow to make sure you don't become humiliated by these birds of prey.
Townsville City Council will be on the look out for the peckers, and if you see them around town, it's best to tell Council so that they can plant a warning sign for others.
They've given us some guidelines to survive Mapgie/Plover Attack Season:
* Walk quickly through the area, don’t run
* Wear a hat or carry an umbrella
* Bike riders – dismount and walk
* Never deliberately provoke or harass a Magpie
It's probably worth nothing too, that the Magpie is a protected species under the Nature Conservation Act 1992.
