Reps from company Bradken say they'll inquire into equipment used in its steelworks plants, following the death of a Wodonga employee in 2014.

The revelation coming in a statement from manufacturing manager, Andrew Bisceglia as the business faced a hearing over workplace safety charges at Wodonga Magistrates Court yesterday.

Dad of two, Peter Watson was crushed to death when a 276kg metal casting smashed through his loader's windscreen.

Fairfax Media reports it's unclear how he was handling the machinery at the time but protective bars had been removed from the vehicle prior to the tragedy.
