A man's body has been found in a car in the Sydney beachside suburb of Maroubra.
Officers were called to Mons Avenue on Wednesday night after a member of the public discovered the man's body in the back of a Ford Laser.
A large crime scene has been established on the street, which is about 200m back from the beach, but also at a nearby park - Broadarrow Reserve -which is entirely taped off.
It appears the man had suffered a number of injuries.
Police are working to determine the circumstances of the death, a spokeswoman said.
The Ford Laser, which had sun-visor on its front screen, and the man's body were taken away by forensic teams on Thursday morning, according to Network Seven.
Several other vehicles on Mons Avenue have been covered with large blue tarpaulins.
Officers are conducting a line search of Broadarrow Reserve, while the homicide squad is assisting with the investigation and a public order and riot squad vehicle also arrived at the site about 9am on Thursday.
The reserve and crime scene is close to St Mary St Joseph Catholic Primary school and parents with their young children are being redirected around the closed street as they arrive for the school day.
Detectives are asking anyone who was in the vicinity of Mons Avenue near Fenton Avenue last night to come forward, as well as any other person who might have information
