Both drivers - a man and a woman - died in the head-on crash at Jerrawangala just after 5am on Friday.
The highway is closed in both direction and motorists are being advised to avoid the area or delay their trip.
Further north, a truck driver was killed in a fiery rollover on the Pacific Highway near Port Macquarie at 3.30am. Northbound lanes remain closed while emergency services work to free the driver's body from the wreck.
