Sydney’s cheapest house for 2016 sold for $350,000 – and spoiler alert – it had no bathroom or toilet.
This has got to be a joke, right? Nope.
Located at 16 Hartog Avenue, Wilmot – a suburb 50km west of Sydney’s CBD – the home didn’t even have gyprock on the walls.
Homes in Wilmot usually sell for around $450,000 to $470,000 depending on the condition, but this home needed major work done and lacked the basics. Despite this, it sold after three days on the market to an investor who has fully renovated the property.
Wilmot was ranked 518 out of 555 of Sydney’s liveable suburbs by Domain. It scored points for open space, telecommunications coverage and bus services, but was penalised for lack of eating-out options, shops and distance to the beach.
It take an hour an a half to get to the CBD via public transport, and can take up to 55 minutes to drive to Parramatta.
What a grim picture for Sydney’s first-home buyers…
