Sydney's Iconic Powerhouse Museum Is Moving Locations For Good

The Powerhouse Museum is officially moving locations to Sydney’s West.

Just a few weeks ago the New South Wales Government purchased the old David Jones car park on the banks of the Parramatta River.

People instantly suspected that it was purchased for the Powerhouse Museum, today that has been confirmed.

The government plan to build on the site to redesign the museum and bring a more modern and world-class feel.

Member for Parramatta Geoff Lee told Nine News, "This will make Parramatta the arts and culture capital of Western Sydney.”

The new agreement is set to cost $140 million.

$100 million of that will go towards upgrading the Riverside Theatre. $40 million will go out to the local council to help upgrade their arts and culture funds.
