In breaking news, there is a serious crash in Sydney's west.

The incident is understood to have happened on Blaxcell Street, Granville at approximately 5.15pm.

It is believed to be a block south of the Woolworths in the area.

According to NSW Police, initial inquiries suggest that two vehicles crashed head-on.

A female driver is being treated at the scene. A six-year-old girl has been taken to Westmead Children's Hospital and is being treated for facial injuries.

A male driver and an infant passenger have also been taken to hospital as a precaution.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area as Blaxcell Street is closed between Louie Street and William Street.

Diversions are in place.
