A woman has sustained critical injuries following a “significant fall” at a Hutchinson Ports worksite in Port Botany.

NSW Ambulance Acting Superintendent Steven Vaughan told Nine News that specialist crews including a medical trauma unit treated the 50-year-old, whose injuries included a broken leg, a broken arm and a closed head injury shortly after midday.

"On their arrival, (paramedics) found a female, approximately 50 years of age, who had fallen eight to 10 metres from some machinery at Port Botany," he said.

"The crews arrived, assessed and treated her, stabilised her and she was transported to St George Hospital in a critical condition."
