A man's been charged over a crash on Sydney's Northern Beaches that's claimed the life of his female passenger.
The 23 year old was allegedly behind the wheel of a black Honda Prelude when it crossed to the other side of Mona Vale Road at Belrose just after 1am, and ploughed into a tree.
A 27 year old woman in the back seat of the car was killed, while another passenger, a 23 year old woman is in Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.
A 20 year old man who was in the front passenger seat is also in hospital suffering serious injuries.
Police say they believe the group had just finished work at a local restaurant.
"We know at this stage that this was a group of young people of Indian descent that we believe had finished work at a restaurant nearby, and were travelling home, " said Detective Chief Inspector Phillip Brooks.
Crash investigators are trying to piece together the moments before the crash.
"We're certainly appealing for road workers that were on Mona Vale Road in Terrey Hills performing road works today to please come forward. We believe that vehicle would've passed them shortly before 1am this morning," said Chief Inspector Brooks.
The 23 year old man allegedly behind the wheel of the car was arrested after undergoing mandatory blood and urine testing.
He's since been charged and is due to face Manly Local Court today on a number of charges including dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
