The iconic Murray Cod is the subject of a study being conducted by Charles Sturt University doctoral candidate Matt O’Connell.
Matt O’Connell is especially interested in finding as many stuffed and mounted Murray Cod as possible urging us to report them.
Mr O'Connell has been spending a lot of his study time scouting country pubs and clubs across South Eastern Australia.
The university says his research could help provide inside into past conditions for fishing, to improve how we manage the vulnerable species into the future.
Mr O'Connell already has leads on nearly 300 mounts scattered across New South Wales, ACT, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.
Matt O'Connell has set up an online survey, which takes about 10 minutes to complete, as an easy way for locals to provide information on cod mounts they happen to spot.
