A crack down on guns throughout the border is set to be carried out.

A new team of police investigators will target firearms crime across Victoria the Andrews Labor Government's looking to tackle illegal guns.

Ten new officers have been employed to work across two squads in attempts to make communities safer.

Minister for police Lisa Neville says the dedicated new team of specially trained officers will be deployed on the front lines to stop trade of illicit guns.


Fair Work Commission decision to boost the minimum wage and all award award wages providing a welcome boost for Sunraysia workers.

Minister for Industrial Relations Natalie Hutchins welcomed the decision to award a 3.3% increase in the National Minimum Wage and all award minimum for 2016/17.

The boost will increase the National Minimum Wage to $18.29 an hour.

The move is set to decrease the reliance minimum wage workers have on awards and penalty rates.


Nationals Member for Mildura Peter Crisp has condemned Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan for failing to act to improve Safety on Mildura’s rail line.
Mr. Crisp says the level crossings with lights and boom gates are crucial to moving grain quickly and efficiently along the line, as well as promoting safety for motorists and pedestrians.
After Crisp addressed Parliament, he met with Mildura Rural City Council Mayor Glenn Milne and rail expert Dr. Bill Russell - discussing the completing the Murray Basin Rail Project.


Chair of the National Farmers Federation’s Water Taskforce,Les Gordon says a number of important decisions on the implementation of the Murray Darling Basin Plan are set to be made before the end of this week.
Prime Minister Turnbull will today meet with the First Ministers of the Basin states for a side meeting leading into Friday’s COAG meeting in Canberra.
The major topic of discussion will be the credible plan Basin Water Ministers have put in place to reach agreement on a revised water recovery target in the Northern Basin and adjustments to sustainable diversion limits in the Southern Basin.
