Plans have been proposed for a new waterfront hotel in Mildura's marina.

Boasting a conference centre, double storey accommodation, a swimming pool and entertainment areas the multi-million dollar development plans have been lodged by The Mildura Marina Hotel Group and are being considered by the council.

The hotel is proposed to be built on a site currently vacant and fenced off said to welcome all those driving across the bridge from New South Wales.

The court has heard of the terrifying moment an 11 year old Mildura boy came face to face with a gun during a home invasion last year.

Peni Amato and Sekonaia Vave faced county court yesterday both pleading guilty to aggravated burglary and four counts of unlawful imprisonment when they broke into a home on Deakin Avenue last year looking for drugs instead finding a family.

The prosecution told the court the two 21 year-old Robinvale men drove into Mildura on July 1st last year armed with a sawn off shotgun and a machete. They threatened the family demanding money and ice.

Despite the men's remorse in court judge Michael Bourke said they would serve further time in prison they'll be sentenced on Monday.

Local police busted a number of drivers travelling at excessive speeds over the weekend.

On Friday Mildura police detected a driver travelling 114 kilometres per hour in an 80 kilometre zone it was found the 18 year old driver had only held his licence for 2 weeks.

He was issued a $505 fine and lost 4 demerit points and his licence for 1 month.

On that same day a 23 year old from Mildura was clocked driving at 182 kilometres per hour in an 80 K-zone.

The man has had his vehicle impounded and will face court.

The Murray Darling Basin Authority has extended the deadline for submissions on proposed amendments to the Basin Plan.
Local stakeholders now have until Friday February 24 to submit their views on the changes.
Chief Executive of the MDBA, Phillip Glyde says the Authority is considering submissions as they’re received so the extension should not affect the proposed amendment process timeframe.
