A Local resident who manages a Buy Swap Sell Facebook page could be fined after illegal gun selling ads popped up on their page.

A tip off led Mildura police to the man who had advertised a gun on the local page finding he was unlicensed but as it turns out the sites administrator is at fault because he "allowed or caused to be allowed" the ad coming under section 101 of the Fire Arms act of 1997 advertising fire arms for sale is prohibited in publications and on websites by a person who is NOT a licensed dealer.

The administrator is now liable for a fine of up to $6218.

Mildura firearms officer and leading senior constable Gary Pearse told AAP localised pages like this one often don't know what's legal whereas sites like gumtree and ebay are monitored.

It's slow going for the business case to see a multi-million dollar sports complex in Mildura South.

The Sunraysia Daily reports despite talks being on the table for decades it's likely the plan won't go before local council until mid-year while planning for the new motorsports precinct rockets ahead.

It's got local sporting bodies frustrated with indoor courts in bad shape the 30 million dollar project would secure long terms growth for sports like volleyball, netball, squash and basketball.

And council say the longer it's put off the most out of reach and unaffordable it becomes.

Police across the border are investigating after a black baldy wiener heifer was shot dead on private property.

The large cow was behind a fence on the Arumpo Road paddock in Buronga when it was shot dead a few weeks ago.

After the beast was shot police say wire was removed from the fence in an attempt to drag the large cow - but with no success the back leg on the animal was cut off.

The deceased cow was found by its owner left on the edge of the paddock.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance regarding an old model red ute with a black tray that was sighted in the area around the time.
