A push to relocate Canberra's Murray Darling Basin Authority offices to Sunraysia is set to be made by the Mildura Rural City Council.

It's follows from a senate enquiry looking at the benefits of decentralising commonwealth agencies to rural regions.

The Sunraysia Daily reports Mildura Mayor Glenn Milne is all for the idea he says it will do good for the office to get out into the regions and be right on the doorstep of the river.

It's reported the Wentworth Shire council will also be pushing to see the office in their town.

Across Sunraysia Foster Carers are required as the number of local children in child services grows.

In the Northern Mallee there are 23 active carers looking after around 30 kids on any given night and across the border in Wentworth and Balranald they place around 50 kids per night.

Manager of Family Services at Mallee Family Care Jason Spratt says despite some great carers in the district they are unable to meet local demand.

The Australian Tax Office is cracking down on the improper use of a Research and Development tax incentive especially within the agricultural and IT industries.
Deputy Commissioner Michael Cranston says while the vast majority of people claiming the tax incentive are doing the right thing there has been evidence of deliberate exploitation.
One example given was people in the agricultural industry claiming ordinary farming practices that produce crops as research and development activities and expenditure.
