A funding boost for aged care in the Wimmera Mallee will help the elderly in our electorate stay independent.

The region has received just over 200 thousand dollars to fund aged care services to support our elderly residents allowing them to live in the community longer.

Its part of the Commonwealth Home Support Programme which has a restorative approach to delay the need for the move to aged care facilities.

Locals fear dangerous activities at the Mildura Wharf could soon lead to someone getting killed.

The Sunraysia Daily reports Mildura Paddle steamers skipper Scott Thorpe is concerned at local kids reckless behaviour jumping off of the wharf into the path of oncoming paddle steamers.

Mr Thorpe says countless time's he's come close to hitting children and he's been on the phone to local police reporting the incidents but nothing has changed.

Adding to the dangers is the state of the local wharf battered and falling apart locals say our tourist hotspot has become an embarrassment.

Farmers across Sunraysia are set to benefit from improvements to the delivery of the Farm Household Allowance payment currently before Parliament designed to help local farmers who are experiencing hardship.
Small Business Minister Michael McCormack recently spoke in Parliament in support of changes to the scheme after listening to the concerns of farmers across the electorate.

Locals are being invited to get behind the Mildura MND Foundation coming up this later this month.

The Cure for MND Foundation black tie event include a special guest line up with Merv Hughes and Andrew Startin, a silent auction to raise funds for MND, entertainment and much more all in support of raising awareness of Motor Neurone Disease and funds to help Australians who struggle with it.
