Barrier District Police rush to fatal accident on the Sturt Highway.

Emergency services have raced to a fatal collision on the Sturt Highway, with one man losing his life.

 

Officers rushed to the scene last night, the vehicles crashing about 10 km east of Balranald; shortly after 10 pm.

 

A vehicle heading east, being driven by a man and carrying a male and female passenger; collided with a vehicle travelling west, driven by a man.

 

The rear male passenger in the east bound vehicle passed away at the scene.

 

 

The driver and female passenger airlifted to Melbourne, where they remain in a critical condition.

 

The driver of the westbound vehicle was transferred to Swan Hill Hospital, suffering fractures to his ankle and elbow.

 

Barrier District Police are working to determine the cause of the head-on collision, a crime scene established on the Sturt Highway.
