Naming two cute new arrivals at Bunbury Wildlife Park will fall into the arms of school students and shoppers with a Name The Dingo campaign under way at Bunbury Forum Shopping Centre during the second week of the school holidays.
Two dingo pups are expected to arrive in August after being born in the Eastern States in May.

Thanks to generous sponsorship from the Bunbury Forum Shopping Centre, the dingoes will take pride of place among the many other native animals that call the Wildlife Park home. But before they arrive the pups need names, and that is where local schools and the shopping public can play their part.

Maidens Park, Picton, Cooinda, Djidi Djidi and Dalyellup primary school students have each created a colourful life-size dingo cut-out, which were generously donated by the Capel Men’s Shed, that will go on display at the Bunbury Forum Shopping Centre from 10 to 16 July outside Woolworths supermarket.

Shoppers will be encouraged to vote for their favourite entry and the two that attract the most votes will win the right to name a dingo each. The schools will also receive a $1000 voucher from Bunbury Forum Shopping Centre, plus 20 family passes to the Bunbury Wildlife Park.
Shoppers also have the chance to win a grand prize of a $200 Bunbury Forum Shopping Centre voucher and a family pass to the Bunbury Wildlife Park, and four runner-up prizes of a family pass to the Bunbury Wildlife Park.

Acting Manager Tourism, Events and Wildlife Park Isabell Evans said it was exciting to involve the community in naming the new arrivals. “The Name The Dingo campaign is also a great way to promote the fact that the Bunbury Wildlife Park will soon have two pure-bred animals joining our many other native animals,” Ms Evans said.
“The school students have done a fantastic job creating their entries and I urge everyone to vote for their favourite. I am sure the winners will be excited to give our dingoes appropriate names.”

Ms Evans said the Wildlife Park was keen to have dingoes join the popular tourist attraction as they have proven to be major drawcards in other wildlife parks around Australia. “The addition of dingoes will not only add to our tourist attractions, but will also allow us to provide education on this often misunderstood native species,” Ms Evans said.
The dingo enclosures have also been supported by LD Total, Jetline and Holcim.
