South West events receive funding from Regional Events Scheme

South West MLC Adele Farina welcomed today’s announcement of the 2017-18
Regional Events Scheme funding grants for events that help to promote the region
and make it a vibrant place to live.

“With more than 125 applications received, the 2017-18 funding round was highly
competitive,” Ms Farina said.

“I am pleased that 30 of the 62 events across Western Australia to receive funding
are South West events.

“The events attract visitors to the region and add to the vibrancy of our region,
delivering social, cultural and economic benefits to communities throughout the
region.

“Successful South West events that received funding include –
• South West Craft Beer Festival
• Busselton Jetty Swim Community Festival
• Geographe Bay Race Week
• Emergence Creative Festival
• X-Adventure, Dunsborough
• Forest Rally
• Grapes and Gallops Festival
• Western Australian Circus Festival
• Porongurup Wine Festival
• Karri Valley Triathlon
• Unearthed Pemberton Festival 2018
• Denmark Festival of Voice.

Ms Farina thanked Minister Paul Papalia and Minister for Regional Development
Alannah MacTiernan for supporting regional events.

“The funding grants of between $5,000 and $50,000 made available through the
Scheme are vital to delivering the events and promoting the region.”
