South Burnett Rate Payers Can Get Set for an Increase

South Burnett rate payers get set to pay on average around $70 a year more in fees with South Burnett rates to increase by 2.5% after the South Burnett Regional Council passed its 2017/18 budget on Monday, June 26.
Some utility charges are being increased and the $200 a year road levy will remain.
Council has also cut costs. The budget highlighted a projected $2.2million deficit.
To cover the shortfall, the council will cut its staff cost by 5% by offering voluntary redundancies - thirteen administrative positions within council will be going.
