Police are investigating the theft of two cars stolen from the Murgon area.

The vehicles a Hyundai Hatchback and a Land Cruiser Ute were stolen on Thursday night (March 16th).

One of the cars was found in Cherbourg and Ute is still missing.

Police are still investigating the matter and are following leads.

Police say car owners had made it easy for criminals with keys left in the ignition or on consoles in the car.

Sgt Guteridge says:

"We are requesting that people make sure they don't leave the key in the ignition, don't make it easily accessible for criminals.

He also encourages residents to become a member of Murgon Neighbourhood Watch, and report any suspicious activity to the Murgon Police Station which is attended every 24 hours.

"We are appealing to the public to report any suspicious activity, we want to make sure we don't make it easy for these people to steal cars or property," he said.

"Being a member of neighbourhood watch you are not only able to help prevent crime, but help police solve crime and if the community works with police it can make it difficult for people to make these offences.
