There’s speeding then there’s this – 153 km/h, 50 km/h over the speed limit.
That’s what police clocked a man travelling at on the Burnett Highway on Sunday afternoon.
Police were conducting a routine patrol when they registered a 25-year-old man doing 153km/h in a 100km/h zone – the reason for the excessive speed was that the Runaway Bay man was trying to get to his destination faster after he had spent a long day behind the wheel.
The speedster was fined $1218, lost eight demerit points and received an automatic six months suspension.
A reminder to everyone – SPEED KILLS.
