Ashmont Siege Accused to Face Court Today
Charges Laid Overnight
A 36 year old man will front court today after yesterday's dramatic siege in Ashmont, where he allegedly armed himself with various implements, including knives, barricading himself and two young girls inside a house in Bulolo Street.
Police rushed to the area shortly after 1pm, following reports of a man creating a disturbance in the neighbourhood, it’s believed he may have been drug affected.
After being spoken to by officers, the man reportedly barricaded himself inside a house with the two girls, and made threats.
He was arrested after a considerable struggle and taken for medical assessment, then charged overnight with Domestic Violence, weapons and assault offences.
