A toddler is fighting for life after being run over in the driveway of a home in Woodberry.
Emergency services were called to Segenhoe Street at about 6:30pm Saturday, after the 2-year-old boy was struck by a reversing Holden Commodore.
The boy was rushed to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a critical condition after undergoing surgery.
The driver, a 22-year-old woman was arrested a short time later and underwent mandatory drug and urine testing at Maitland Hospital.
She was taken to Maitland Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manner danger, negligent driving (occasion grievous bodily harm), not reverse vehicle safely, and alter etc amount of illicit drug in fluid or blood.
The woman was granted bail and will face Maitland Local Court on March 28.
