Shark Attack Near Samurai Beach

There's been a suspected shark attack at a Port Stephens this morning.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was deployed after a man in his 50s was bitten on the bicep near Samurai Beach at around 7am.

He's receiving treatment for minor injuries in the John Hunter Hospital, with both Samurai and One Mile beaches closed for the day as a result.

Both have already been closed for most of the past week after a sperm whale carcass washed ashore - sparking shark concerns  - with both One Mile and Samurai beaches only reopening yesterday.
