Newcastle's set to swelter through its hottest day of summer so far, with the temperature forecast to reach 41 degrees at Nobbys on Wednesday.
Suburbs right across the Hunter from the coast to the valley will climb into the 40's, as hot air moves across the state.
However we're unlikely to see any records broken.
The hottest January day recorded in Newcastle was 42.5 degrees on January 18, 2013.
The BOM is predicting a cool southerly change to arrive on Wednesday night.
