The famed Queens Wharf Tower remains on track to be demolished some time before November.
Newcastle City Council has lodged a development application to remove the 40-metre tower, after failing to find a new home for it.
It'll be pulled apart in four pieces over a couple of days.
Councillors voted last year to demolish the tower, due to mounting maintenance costs and safety concerns.
Council expects the demolition job to cost about $300,000.
