A teenager is fighting for life following a fire pit explosion at a home in Port Stephens.
The 16-year-old suffered critical burns to his face, arms and torso at a home on Sandy Point Road in Corlette at around 5pm last night.
He was airlifted to Sydney's Royal North Shore hospital with a man and woman in their 40s who were also seriously burnt.
While paramedics treated two others in their 40s for burns - with the pair taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
It's believed flammable liquid was thrown onto the pit while the group were huddled around it on a patio.
