A cyclist has been seriously injured in a hit run incident at Tighes Hill.
The 41 year old man was riding along Maitland Road at about 4:40pm Sunday afternoon, when he was clipped by a vehicle traveling in the same direction near the Elizabeth Street intersection.
Police say he suffered numerous fractures.
The driver allegedly failed to stop and kept driving for a further kilometre before colliding with a parked car.
The 36 year old man from Raymond Terrace was arrested at the scene and charged with four traffic offences.
He's been given conditional bail to face Newcastle Local Court on August 16.
