A boost for youth mental health services on the Coffs Coast, with the organisation that runs Coffs Harbour's Headspace set to receive $100,000 in federal funding per year.

Cowper MP Luke Hartsuyker has announced today the North Coast Primary Health Network-affiliated body GenHealth, which runs Headspace Coffs Harbour, will receive the funding.

Hartsuyker said Headspace and the NCPHN has been working to secure additional funding since moving into their new premises last year.

“Headspace Coffs Harbour moved into new custom-designed premises last year, and they have been working with me and the North Coast Primary Health Network to secure additional funding for their service over the last few months,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“I am also pleased to announce that GenHealth will receive additional resources to establish a headspace outreach service in the Nambucca Valley to improve the availability of youth mental health services in that area."

The Nambucca service will be delivered in the second half of this year, following community consultation.

“The Primary Health Network will work with GenHealth as well as local organisations, young people and their families, health professionals and the broader community to come up with effective solutions to the particular youth mental health needs in and around Nambucca Heads.

The announcement comes one day before the National Day of Action Against Bullying, a new campaign is launched to help teenage girls tackle the problem.
