Watch And Act Issued For Grassfire In Vic's South East

A watch-and-act alert has been issued for an out-of-control grassfire in Victoria's southeast, with residents told leaving now is the safest option.

The fire is burning on both sides of the Bass Highway at Pound Creek, about 150 km from Melbourne, travelling west.

"Don't wait, leaving now is the safest option - conditions may change and get worse very quickly," the Country Fire Authority said in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.
