Uber has announced their carpooling feature will launch in Melbourne on Monday!
For anyone who’s travelled in the USA or UK, you might be familiar with the feature which allows passengers to share a ride and reduce the costs.
The feature was recently launched in Sydney and has had a fantastic uptake with around 60,000 Sydneysiders taking a trip since it launched in April.
The feature is particularly useful during commute times, with only an average of three minutes added to trips.
This should be good news for Melbournians as according to The Bureau of Transport, Infrastructure and Regional Economics (BITRE), congestion is costing $4.6 billion and is set to increase to $10.2 billion by 2030 in Melbourne. The goal of UberPool is to get more people in fewer cars, sharing the ride and the savings.
