A teenager has wound up in The Alfred Hospital, after being struck by a car on the busy Princes Highway, Narre Warren.
It's believed the male was lying on the road prior to being struck by the vehicle.
Emergency services were called just after 2.30am and arrived to the scene on the Princes Highway, near Victor Crescent.
Ambulance Victoria say they "treated a teenage boy for lacerations and he was taken to The Alfred Hospital in a stable condition".
The exact circumstances around the incident are still being investigated, with police trying to figure out why he may have been lying in the middle of a busy motorway.
They are looking into whether drugs or alcohol could have been involved.
Vic Police say the male driver stopped immediately at the scene and has been assisting them.
