You should leave some extra time to get around town today with major traffic delays expected in the CBD.

Early this morning a large truck pulled out a number the overhead tram wires through the city and on Queensbridge Street near Crown Casino.

The truck was carrying a large excavator on the back when it misjudged the height of the vehicle during a U-turn.

It's best to avoid the area if possible. One lane is now open in each direction on Queensbridge Street between Power Street and Flinders Street.

Both trams and cars can expect major delays. The area is also closed to pedestrians.
