It’s no secret that Australia is a nation who wastes. With more attention being brought to the surface by just how bad our waste problem has become, more and more Aussies are making choices to minimise their ecological footprint.
Every ten minutes, an entire tram-worth of coffee cups are discarded in Australia. The average takeaway coffee cup cannot be recycled due to the plastic lining within the cup.
Queuing up for a takeaway coffee, it has now become common to see customers clutching their own cups in hand.
Encouraging this initiative, two Melbourne cafes have offered free coffee all week to customers who bring their own cups in honour of National Recycling Week.
Lights in the Attic in Hawthorn and The Crux and Co. in South Melbourne are both offering one complementary regular sized coffee, hot chocolate or mocha per person, per day (regular milk or soy)!
The offer is in partnership with reusable coffee cup and bottle brand Frank Green.
