People usually go to the MCG to see heated action but on Friday they'll be going there to escape it.
Melbourne's no stranger to very hot conditions, and today the iconic sports stadium is being tested as an emergency relief centre in the event of an extreme heat wave shutting down Melbourne's transport system, stranding people in the city.
The "Exercise Off the Grid" simulation will be run from 10:30am, with 150 emergency service workers treating 200 volunteers playing the role of heat-stricken and stranded people.
It's also got involvement from City of Melbourne staff.
Victoria Police is urging Melbournians not to stress though, saying the drill was planned last year and it is not a reaction to this weeks terror attack in Manchester.
More to come.
