Commuters can expect heavy delays as upgrades to Sawn Street Bridge begin.
The Age reports one in-bound lane on the bridge will be closed from Martch 29 until July as construction begins on an additional lane.
The government has warned delays for inbound traffic will be up to 20 minutes in the morning and may be up to 15 minutes in the afternoon.
Drivers are advised to take alternative routes into the city. Those other routes include Alexandra, Victoria and Wellington parades, Albert Street and Commercial Road.
The $30 million upgrade will also include wider cycling and pedestrian paths on both sides of the bridge and new lighting.
