Maranoa Regional Council Warns Dog Owners Need to be More Responsible
Fines will be handed out
The call is going out to Roma residents to restrain their dogs after an alarming rise in attacks across the region.
There have been 13 dog attacked in the past 13 weeks and the council is warning Maranoa dog owners about heavy penalties that apply.
Dog owners are being reminded that it is their responsibility to make sure their pets are on leads in public amid the spate of attacks with wandering dogs the biggest cause of attacks in the community.
It not only means having them on a leash when in public but it also means securing the backyard when at home.
Councillor Puddy Chandler says owning a dog is a privilege and not a right.
