Water police and search and rescue teams are returning to Howqua Inlet this morning - to search for a man who fell from a boat into Lake Eildon.
Witnesses report that the 27-year-old Hoppers Crossing man did not re-surface - after falling into the water at 6:35 last night.
A search was conducted - and will continue at daybreak - a 42-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries.

The man jailed over coward-punching Mooroopna man - and former Geelong footballer Paul Brown outside a Shepparton Kebab Shop in October 2015 is appealing his sentence.
Mohammad Al Wahame wants a more lenient jail term - following a newly diagnosed intellectual impairment that his lawyers say affected his moral culpability.
Al Wahame is serving a six year jail term - with a 4 and a half year non-parole period.

Mansfield Shire's councilors have rejected a recommendation to issue a permit for a stone quarry to be created within their boundaries.
The proposed project - on ButterCup Road - Merrijig - had 49 conditions for operation before coming before council this week.
CEO Alex Green says they had 47 objections from neighbouring property owners - and a petition with over 800 signatures opposing the proposal.
Mayor Paul Volkering says councilors considered environmental and tourism concerns when making their decision.

Two Shepparton representatives remain undefeated in the Country Junior Basketball Cup in Albury
Hannah Onley scored 10 points as the Under 14 Vic Bushrangers girls beat the NSW Kookaburras 68-22 - and another 12 as her side beat Albury-Wodonga 54-27.

Jordan Michel scored 7 as the Under 16 Vic Goldminers beat the NSW Waratahs by 13 - he scored 12 as his side beat New Zealand KEA by 97.

Jordan Munro's Under 14 Vic Bushrangers boys squad suffered two narrow losses to the NSW Kookaburras and Tasmania Kangaroos - he scored 7 points in both games.
