Shots fired in Highland Park

Police are calling for witnesses to come forward after shots were fired in Highland Park early yesterday morning.

Investigators said four men apparently pulled up in front of a Renfrew Dr property in a Ford Focus or similar car around 1:15 on Sunday morning.

One man armed with a shotgun got out, went around the back of the home where several people were gathered, and fired a number of shots before running off.

Two men were taken to hospital with minor injuries after they confronted the man and attempted to punch the car's windows.

Police said the people involved later denied the incident took place, insisting the loud bangs witnesses heard were just fireworks going off.

Investigations continued on Monday with detectives calling on anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage from around Highland Park or surrounding suburbs from the morning in question to contact them.
