Officer Injured During Public Nuisance Arrest At Southport

A police officer has been injured while making an arrest in Southport overnight.

He was apparently handcuffing a man following a disturbance on Ferry Road around 8pm on Thursday, when the pair took a tumble.

The officer landed awkwardly, with the alleged offender falling on top of him.

He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with a suspected broken leg.

The other man was later charged with a public nuisance offence.
