The marathon events for the Commonwealth Games have wrapped up with a dramatic finish in the Men’s race, with the Gold Coast’s Michael Shelley claiming the Gold medal to defend his title.

It’s after race leader Callum Hawkins from Scotland broke down and couldn’t continue to run, with Shelley passing him near the end of the track.

Earlier in the Women’s Marathon, Aussie Lisa Weightman claimed the Silver medal with Jessica Trengove finishing in third.

Kurt Fearnley capped off his remarkable career with Gold in the Men’s T54 Marathon, while Madision de Rozario and Eliza Ault-Connell picked up the Gold and Silver in the Women’s T54.

There’s still plenty to come on the final day of competition before the Closing Ceremony.

The Boomers will have a chance at claiming the Gold in the final of the Men’s Basketball, taking on Canada this morning, while the Diamonds will clash with England in the Women’s Gold medal match at the Netball.

Over at Robina Stadium both the Aussie men and women will be gunning for glory in the Rugby Sevens, with placing matches and semi-finals continuing.

And in Squash, Australia’s duo of Zac Alexander and David Palmer take on England in the final of the Men’s Doubles.

It’s after the pair of Rachael Grinham and Donna Urquhart beat England 2-0 earlier today to claim Bronze in the Women’s Doubles.
