A man will face court later this month after an incident at a Surfers Paradise high-rise.
Police surrounded the building on Hanlan Street just before 4pm on Wednesday following reports an armed man had holed up inside an apartment with a woman and child.
There were reports the 36-year-old had also climbed out onto the ledge of the building and broken a window.
Nearby residents evacuated and the woman and child managed to escape the unit unharmed before police moved in and arrested the man.
Officers also allegedly found a number of replica firearms at the home.
He's since been charged with unregulated high risk activity, wilful damage and contravening a police banning notice.
