One man has been taken to the watch-house and another to hospital, following an alleged machete attack in Surfers Paradise this morning.
Police declared an emergency situation at 2:20am on Easter Monday under the Public Safety Preservation Act.
Officers cordoned off an area around the Towers of Chevron Renaissance on Ferny Avenue, after reports a man had attacked another man inside an apartment and was making threats to harm himself.
He was arrested about an hour later and taken in for questioning, while the emergency situation was revoked at 3.55am, with roads reopened to traffic and pedestrians.
The man was taken into custody for questioning while the victim in his 30s was transported to hospital with a serious cut to his hand.
Paramedics say his fingers were severely injured.
