But will they pay for it?

LNP wants a second M1

The LNP is pushing for a second M1 to help ease congestion on the Gold Coast, but have fallen short of paying for it themselves.

State opposition leader Tim Nicholls made the announcement on Tuesday, starting an online petition for people to back the second motorway.

The first stage would be build on a 36.5km corridor between Stapylton-Jacobs Well Road and Nerang-Broadbeach Road.

But the LNP leader stopped short of making it an election promise, stating that it's up to Premier Annastacia Palaszscuk to get it done.
