Gold Coast rallies around couple after Worongary inferno

The community is digging deep to help a Gold Coast couple left with serious burns after their home went up in flames.

Michael and Liane Breeze's house on Mataranka Dr in Worongary was destroyed early on Sunday morning, and they also lost their two cats and dog in the blaze.

The couple, aged 55 and 50, suffered serious burns to their faces, hands and chests when they attempted to save their beloved pets.

They were rushed to hospital in Brisbane both in a critical condition.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help cover their medical bills and the costs of rebuilding their home.

It had already raised more than $6,000 as of 9:00 on Monday morning.

You can donate here.
