Byron beachgoers stung with $500 fine for baring all outside designated area

Taking your kit off on the beach could cost you big money!

Byron Bay police have fined 15 people this month alone, for going nude on the beach, illegally.

There is a clothing optional stretch of sand at Tyagarah Beach just north of Byron, and police want to keep any nudists contained to that area!

They're cracking down on anyone who swaps their bathing suit for a birthday suit, outside of the signed-posted strip.

A couple was also slapped with a fine this month, caught getting a bit too hot and heavy on the sand.

Tweed-Byron Chief Inspector Luke Arthurs has told The Northern Star anyone engaging in lewd acts or spotted in the buff outside signposted nudist sites, will be slugged with a $500 fine.
