Attempted Robbery Goes Pear-shaped For Alleged Offender

UPDATE: The man accused of breaking into a Broadbeach Waters home armed with a knife in a failed robbery has been kept behind bars.

Tyronne Colburn made no application for bail in Southport Magistrates Court today, after allegedly attempting to rob a Fremar Drive home overnight, before a male resident confronted him and forced him to escape.

EARLIER: A man has been charged after allegedly invading a home at Broadbeach Waters overnight armed with a knife.

The 25-year-old is accused of entering the Fremar Drive place sometime between 10pm and 1.30am on Wednesday night, making demands for cash.

That is when a 38-year-old male occupant confronted him, before the alleged offender fled to a nearby house without any money.

Police were called to the scene and detained the man, and charges had yet to be laid.

None of the residents of the house were hurt during the incident.

The alleged offender was charged with three counts of attempted robbery with violence whilst armed and one count of burglary and commit an indictable offence.

He was due to front Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday.
