Morwell Seat Finally Confirmed After State Election

After eleven days, the seat of Morwell is now confirmed following last month's state election.

Independent MP Russell Northe finished 1,472 votes ahead of Labor candidate Mark Richards after the Victorian Electoral Commission finished counting the preference distribution last night.

Despite Richards comprehensively winning first preference votes, Russell Northe will serve his fourth term as MP for the electorate. It is his first full term since leaving the Nationals party to become an Independent.
