The Former Orange Base Hospital is set to come down, a $3.4 million contract signed to get the demolition underway.
Award winning firm, Zauner Construction, the same team who built the Orange Regional Museum, will commence the works, around this time next month.
Orange Mayor John Davis said, "the initial idea was to keep the shell of the hospital tower to see if it could be converted into high-quality, multi-floor, residential apartments", however there was no market interest in the option.
Now, Orange City Council will demolish all the buildings on the site, except the heritage ambulance station, keeping the cost of the project to a minimum.
Site establishment will take around six weeks, with the works starting at the end of August, to be complete during the first quarter of 2018, weather permitting.
