Caffeine actually helps the body

Coffee lovers rejoice! There is finally consensus amongst the scientific community. And it's good news.

Research released by the International Life Science Institute in America, has this week revealed caffeine is in fact what's keeping us alive. Well not quite, but it can be really good for you.

Drinking 400 mg of caffeine per day actually helps to keep you healthy.

In people who have overall good health, caffeine can boost your memory, bolster your immune system, and, of course, keep you alert.

The results build on the conclusion a UK study made in 2016, which said that drinking more coffee can reduce liver complications associated with eating and drinking too much fat or sugar. Makes sense, because, you know, coffee flushes out the system pretty quickly... Let's move on...

The UK study found there was a 44 per cent lower risk of liver cirrhosis in those who regularly drank large amounts of coffee.

400 mg is roughly four standards cups, since a standard sized flat white has roughly 90 mg of caffeine.

If you're the kind to prefer the darker roasts though, you may want to set your limit a little lower. Also, if you're pregnant, you'll want to cap the joes at 300 mg per day.

And, even though mum said it wasn't, the researchers found caffeine can be good for kids too! No more than 2.5 mg per day, depending on the height and weight of the child.

On average, the researchers found we drink between 105 mg and 165 mg per day.

So, with our blessing, you may order that extra cup of coffee! You've earned it. You deserve it. You owe it to your health!
